Ghiya Chane ki dal is a very healthy recipe. If you don't like the taste of ghiya or bottle gourd, you should try this once.You can have it with roti or paratha. My kids like to eat it with rice.I mash ghiya properly to mix it with dal.Chane ki dal should be soaked for atleast 30 Minutes before cooking. I usually soak it for two hours. If you forget to soak it,soak it in hot water for 30 Minutes.
INGREDIENTS
Ghiya/bottle gourd (chopped ) -2 cup
Chane ki dal-1/4 cup
Tomatoes -2
Green chillies --2
Ginger -1 tsp
Ghee -1 Tbsp
Jeera -1 tsp
Hing -a pinch
Haldi -1/4 tsp
Coriander powder -1 tsp
Red chilli powder -1/2 tsp
Amchur powder -1/2 tsp
Garam masala -1/4 tsp
Salt to taste
Lemon juice if required
Coriander leaves to decorate
METHOD
Grind tomatoes, chillies and ginger to make a fine paste.
Heat ghee In the pressure cooker. Add jeera and hing.Add tomato paste and cook for 2 minutes.Now add all the spices and cook it till it separates the fat. Add Chane ki dal and chopped ghiya. Mix salt and black salt. Add 2 cup water and mix it well.Cook it in pressure cooker for 4 whistles.1 whistle on high flame then on medium flame. When steam is released, open the lid and mash it well.decorate with coriander leaves.
You can also add lemon juice if required. Serve it hot with roti and rice.
